Data Scientist
Mariam obtained a Master of Science in Astronomy and Data Science from Leiden University in August 2022. Driven by her curiosity to continuously enhance her technical skills and deepen her knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, she obtained a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence with a specialization in Speech and Language Technology at KU Leuven in 2024.
During her Master, Mariam focused on Machine Learning, the foundations of AI, its applications in Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision, and programming in Python. In her second year at KU Leuven, she gained practical experience by conducting four internships. One of them was in collaboration with Emergent and element61, where she gained experience in the lifecycle of a machine learning project, consulting, and determining and collecting suitable data for a client. For her master’s thesis, she developed a GPT-4-powered solution for generating databases in collaboration with ML6.
Mariam enjoys reading, learning about Egyptology, photography (primarily landscape and nature), travelling, and hiking in her free time. She aspires to be a future bouldering hobbyist and an amateur sailor. She also bakes occasionally, with her signature bakes being brownies, cheesecakes, and apple crumble.
Mariam will join element61 in September 2024.
