An IBM Cognos TM1 TI Process stands for a Turbo Integrator Process. It lets developers import data into cubes from data sources including ASCII files, ODBC and other cubes.

IBM Cognos TM1 is a solution with a client-server architecture and TM1 Architect is one of the standard TM1 client components that can connect to the TM1 server. The key components of TM1 are TM1 Architect, TM1 Perspectives, TM1 Web and Turbo Integrator.A complete TM1 model is build in TM1 Architect using Turbo Integrator processes. It lets you create, analyze and manage business data using the Cube Viewer. Administrative capabilities are only available through TM1 Architect Server Explorer.

TM1 Perspectives is a standard TM1 standalone application and needs Microsoft Excel to run. It uses Cube Viewer features while taking advantage of MS Excel functionality via an add-in for Excel. In fact, TM1 Perspectives does the same as TM1 Architect besides the fact that it needs MS Excel and enables you to use the powerful Excel features to perform complex analysis on data stored in a TM1 server.

Elements in TM1 are used to define data in cubes. Every element has a type associated with it: simple(number), string and consolidated element. A simple element is the lowest level in the hierarchy. A string element contains string information. An element that has aggregated data in a cube is a consolidated element.The format of the attributes of the elements can be modified by the developer.

IBM Cognos Map Manager is a Microsoft Windows program that you can use to import maps in reports. Map Manager can be installed together with Framework Manager and is also part of IBM Cognos Express. The maps can be used in Report Studio and viewed in Report Viewer. It is possible to create aliases of existing layers or to compose own maps or layers based upon existing layers within Map Manager. 

A TM1 Sandbox is a functionality related to the IBM Cognos TM1 solution. Sandboxes are versions of cube views saved locally. This feature allows users to have their own personal workspace with a personal copy of the data on which they can do simulations. The sandbox feature can be disabled or enabled by adding a line in the TM1s.cfg file.

A TM1 Skipcheck is a concept related to the IBM Cognos TM1 solution. When a rule is added to a cube, TM1 turns off skipping empty cells and begins to check every cell in the cube before consolidating the values. This can cause performance problems. 

TM1 Rules & Feeders are concepts related to the IBM Cognos TM1 solution. TM1 feeders feed every cell that is calculated by a rule. Feeders are not used to feed rules that apply to consolidated cells. Feeders are not required to make rules work, however they can improve performance in sparse cubes. Rules and feeders are written in the Rules Editor. The feeder statements are starting with declaring ‘FEEDERS' before starting the rule.

A TM1 application is a collection of shortcuts to TM1 objects, files, URL's and Excel files organized into format related groups. Excel files that are published on the web are also listed in the applications folder. An application folder consists out of TM1 objects like cubes, cube views, subsets and chores. File references are shortcuts to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or PDF files. The applications are automatically available in TM1 Web.

TM1 cubes exist within the IBM Cognos TM1 solution. A TM1 cube is a multidimensional database that must contain at least 2 dimensions and 1 fact. The data is loaded into the cube making use of a turbo integrator process.Each cube can be expanded to view all the dimensions that make up the cube. Once a cube is created, it is not possible to add or remove dimensions. You will have to create a complete new cube if you want to remove or add dimensions.
