Data Scientist
Marilou graduated as a Digital Business Engineer at the University of Antwerp. She is starting at element61 with great enthusiasm. This was a very deliberate career decision, and she cannot wait to apply and expand her knowledge in the field of Data and Analytics.
Marilou first discovered the power of data during her time at NxtPort International, where she gained initial experience in leveraging data and dashboarding to drive sound decision-making. Her thesis, titled “Automation in the inland navigation sector: developing a Return on Investment model to determine implementation of autonomous vessels”, was a nice example of how a real-world business problem can be tackled by an innovative data-driven approach. It is a perfect illustration of the bridge Marilou likes to build between complex data and concrete business value.
Known for her enthusiasm and drive, Marilou brings the same spirit to her professional environment as she does to her role as hockey team captain and scout leader. As a true team player, she thrives in collaborative environments and looks forward to working closely with colleagues, clients and partners to create a lasting impact. Her technical skillset evolves mainly around MS Power BI and Python, with hands-on experience in analytics, automation and storytelling through data.
Outside of work, you’ll rarely find her standing still. She recharges by going for a run, travelling to new places and catching up with friends.
