Data Scientist
Douwe obtained a Master of Science in Business Engineering, specialising in Data Analytics, from Ghent University. From early on in his studies, he developed a strong interest in the intersection of data and sport. This interest carried all the way through to his thesis, in which he applied Bayesian inference to analyse performance of support rides in professional road cycling. Beyond sport, Douwe is drawn to the broader challenge of turning complex data into meaningful decisions.
He has broad experience within the analytics stack, from data engineering and machine learning to visualisation and storytelling, and can approach problems in a calm and structured way, even when under pressure. When he's not working, he enjoys running. He also enjoys chess, and when it comes to other sports, he prefers to watch them with friends. Douwe enjoys music festivals and concerts, and spending time with friends at a bar or café.
