The IBM Cognos TM1 Server is an application tier component and manages requests from IBM Cognos TM1 clients. It loads cubes and dimensions into memory and responds by executing calculations, consolidations and updates. Via the Cognos TM1 Server administrators can also manage security by granting or denying permissions to different server objects like cubes and dimensions.

The IBM Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler is the updated version of what was previously called IBM TM1 Contributor Administration. One big difference in IBM Cognos TM1 version 10.1 is that there is now a ‘Model Design' and an ‘Application Design' tab.

IBM Cognos TM1 API's stands for Application Programming Interfaces. It installs required files that enable developers to work with the Cognos TM1 application programming interfaces like TM1 API, TM1 Java API and TM1 .NET API.

The IBM Cognos TM1 Admin Server is an application tier component. This process keeps track of all Cognos TM1 servers running on a network. An Admin Server runs on a computer better known as an Admin Host. The moment a Cognos TM1 server starts, the server registers itself with an Admin Server that is running on a specified Admin Host. The Cognos TM1 clients reference the Admin Server to determine which Cognos TM1 Servers are available.

IBM Cognos Map Manager is a Microsoft Windows program that you can use to import maps in reports. Map Manager can be installed together with Framework Manager and is also part of IBM Cognos Express. The maps can be used in Report Studio and viewed in Report Viewer. It is possible to create aliases of existing layers or to compose own maps or layers based upon existing layers within Map Manager.
